Can I move learners from one team to another?

Add Team Membership

Now days, most enterprises are constantly evolving and adapting. Part of this evolution can include new branches, offices, departments and commonly restructuring and promotion of employees and managers. Since the LMS normally reflects the structure of your company, you may need to move LMS Learners from one Team to another within the system. This can be performed without deleting or adding the user again by using the Bulk Team Assignment option included in the Teams section.


Let's say that we are opening a new Human Resources section dedicated to E-Recruiting new employees. For this reason, we are promoting one member of the Talent Seek Team to E-Recruiting. Since these Teams are sibling Teams, we will add a Learner to the E-Recruiting Team and then remove this Learner from the Talent Seek Team.

As a first step, we are going to check the username of the Learner we want to move.

  • Click/Tap on Learners and select Learner Management.

Make sure you write down the user name correctly to avoid any confusion. For this example we will move user Joseph Harris.

In the destination Team, in this case, E-Recruiting;

  • From the Learners context menu, select Bulk Team Assignment. 

As Learner Source we will use the Team or Roles option.

  • Select a Learning Role.
  • Click/Tap the Show Search link under Learners.

Input the search string. Enter information which pertains to the user such as their username or phone number.

  • Click/Tap the Search for Learners link.

  • From the results listed, check the box next to the user and make sure that Assignment is set to Add.
  • Click/Tap Submit.

A confirmation dialog box will display. 

  • Click/Tap Yes.

The Results of the operation will display. In this example we see that Total New Membership Assigned is 1.

When we go back to the Teams list we notice that the E-Recruiting Team now has 1 Learner.

Drop Team Membership

We have added user Joseph Harris to the E-Recruiting Team but he still remains as a member of the Talent Seek Team. We now need to drop user from the Talent Seek Team.

  • Under Talent Seek Team, expand the Learners context menu and select the Bulk Team Assignment option.

As Learner Source we will use the Team or Roles option.

  • Select a Learning Role.
  • Click/Tap the Show Search link next to Learners.

Input the search string which is information that pertains to the user such as their username or phone number.

  • Click/Tap the Search for Learners link.

  • From the results listed, check the box next to the user. Ensure Assignment is set to Drop.
  • Click/Tap Submit.

A confirmation dialog box will display. 

  • Click/Tap Yes.


The Results of the operation will display at the bottom of the screen. As you can see in this example, Total Existent Membership Dropped is 1.

The Results of the operation will be listed below where we can see that the total number of Learners has decreased by 1.
