Introduction
This release introduces a new Admin interface and new Admin permissions to support the concept of an Instructor. Any user can be set as an Instructor within the team hierarchy. Once a user has instructor permissions, they can be assigned to specific learning roles. Any instructor assigned to a learning role will be able to provide scoring details for some lessons assigned to users within the role. In particular, this interface facilitates scoring of Lessons which are not self-scoring. Contact support@nogginguru.com if you have any questions.
Learning Roles
Role Details > Instructors
Role details includes a new tab called Instructors. The purpose of this tab is to select which Instructors (see Admin Types below) will be given permission to score Lessons assigned with this Role. This interface includes two columns. The left column includes all available instructors. Selecting an instructor and clicking the >> control will move them into the right column containing a list of selected instructors. If no users have been designated as instructors, this interface will remain blank.
Learners
Team Details > Admin Types
A new Access Role (Instructor) and Feature Permission (Instructor Scoring) have been added to admin types. Team admins will have these permissions by default. A Custom Admin Type called Instructor provides Instructor Access and Instructor Scoring as the only administrative permissions available. While the Instructor is technically a type of Administrator, an Instructor is not required to have any additional administrative permissions.
Learner Details > Status
This is not a new feature, but if an Instructor Admin role exists within the team, it may now be selected here to assign a user Instructor Permissions.
Instructor Scoring
Instructor Scoring
This new feature provides a single instructor interface which can be used to mark lessons complete, provide a score, mark absences, and review uploaded assignments. This interface will only show the relevant item(s) an Instructor needs to take action on for a learner to complete a lesson, rather than showing all assignments associated with a Learning Role.
Instructors will be able to score multiple assignments at one time. For example, after marking two absent attendees in an Instructor Led Training Session, the remaining attendees can all be marked as complete.
The interface will show assignments which are "ready to score" by default, however the Instructor has the option to display and score all assignments whether they are ready to score or not.
A Lesson is considered "ready to score" if:
- The learner has opened the lesson which sets it's status to "In Progress"
- An ILT session start time has occurred. In other words, once the session is under way or completed.
A Lesson is considered "not ready to score" if:
- The learner has not opened the content.
- The content has already been scored.
- An ILT Session has not yet occurred.
Lesson Types which will be available in this interface include:
- Assignment Upload
- ILT Sessions
- Any Lesson configured to be marked In Progress on open/close. Examples can include Rich Text Files, Microsoft Assets, Google Assets, File uploads, Links, Videos, or even certificates.
Lesson Types which will NOT be available in this interface include:
- SCORM
- Assessment
- Survey
- Any Lesson type which is marked complete on open/close.
- Any Lesson configured to be a resource.
Note: The next release will feature a new Assignment Upload Lesson interface. This update to Assignment Upload will facilitate bi-directional communication between instructors and learners accompanying learner generated content assignments.
